Question: Describe a piece of electronic equipment that you find useful.

You should say:

what it is

how you learned to use it

how long you have had it

and explain why you find this piece of electronic equipment useful it.

I am going to depict a piece of electronic device that I find useful. It is my smartphone. I have had it for nearly 3 years and it was a gift for my parents on my birthday and I was on cloud nine. In fact, it was a piece of cake for me to learn how to use it, because I just needed to look at the manual and follow the instructions about how to turn it on, turn it off, and install some software.

I think this device has many useful features. Firstly, It helped me keep in touch with near and dear friends and family by chatting, texting messages, giving phone calls, or making video calls. Secondly, my smartphone is also great for entertaining activities. I can use it to surf the web, watch movies online or play music. For instance, when I come back home after a tiring day,  I feel relaxed as I can have a shower and listen to my favorite songs at the same time. Thirdly, It is a portable feature. For example, I can manage my email during a long hour commuting by bus or I can practice English on the app during a short break between lectures. 

All in all, my smartphone is highly appreciated for the multi-functions it can serve me. If I didn’t have it, I wouldn’t be able to communicate well with other people and enjoy my life so much.

Question 1: What kinds of machine are used for housework in modern homes in your country?

In my country, vacuum cleaners, dishwashers, fridges, ovens, electronic stoves, irons, and washing machines are the most commonly used household tools to make living easier and reduce the workload. While a middle-class family has a few of these, they are quite common for rich people in my country.

Another great advantage of machines is that they often save additional costs. For instance, we can put leftovers in the fridge and eat later. Without it, we would have wasted the food.

Yes, those tools have some hidden drawbacks that we often fail to realize. They consume energy and many of them are harmful to our health and environment. For example, we have become more dependent on packed food because we just put them into the oven. It saves time and is convenient but it is not good for health.
